Every pro was once an amateur and every expert was once a beginner regardless of any profession or talent. And here is how i took off with my photography journey since i first got my first camera.
I've always had a passion for photography, but i had never seen myself as a person who would have seriously dealt with it seriously during my youth. However, my biggest supporter for this development was my mother. Things began to change as i was gifted with my first DSLR camera which was a Canon EOS 550D. It was an intermediate camera that was capable of performing most of the tasks. Moreover, it was also a reliable camera that lasted me for more than 5 years as well.
Through this, i began photographing anything i could such as plants, landscapes, parks, people and much more. There was never a specific focus that I wanted to venture in. Instead it was more of an experiencing stage that i wanted to learn. I spent most of my time learning how acquire photography techniques by watching Youtube videos, online tutorials and analyzing other photographer's portfolios on Instagram. Honestly, as i look back to the photos that I've taken, they were so bad. Most of the pictures were always over saturated, off grids, off focus and anything else you could think of. However, I was always determined to make myself better at photography. Hence, most of my photographs were also captured in my local climbing gym called Madmonkeyz Climbing Gym. After countless of photographs that i have captured, i finally captured the gym manager's attention and they had offered me with my very first photography job. I was paid according to the amount of photographs that were taken for their marketing content. Although those content were still not the best photographs, but the gym had never lost hope in me and always continued pushing me above my limits. Thus, i would say that the environmental pressures and changes had shaped me into who i am today.
Conclusion, never stop trying and always continue to learn as much as you can while you can. If you have a dream that you want to achieve, you must fight for it and today is the day that you start doing something about it.
Here are some of the old photographs that I've managed to scavenge through my hard disk.
